Featured Artist Judy Koenig-Smith


The Deltona Art Club is featuring Judy Koenig-Smith as our Artist of the Month. Her painting is now hanging in the foyer of Deltona City Hall. Judy named her painting “The Green Flash”, she has heard the story that a sunset will have a green flash before you see total darkness. This is an oil medium painting on a very large canvas, it details a coconut palm tree in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands.  

Judy was born in the State of New York, she has lived in Deltona for 10 years and travels to upstate New York during the warmer weather. She has 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 chihuahuas, 2 cats, 1 large lab/bulldog, and a stray kitten she named thief.  Her career at Sugar Hill Pottery on Lake Champlain in Essex, N.Y. is where she would make pottery on a wheel.  

She enjoyed art club in school where she learned her skills and still signs her paintings with her maiden name Snedeker. Judy would like to make a watercolor painting after being impressed by the guest speaker at our November art meeting.

Our Club, established in 1968, is one of the oldest continuing running clubs in Central Florida. All area artist working in any mediums are welcome to join the club which meets the second Wednesday of each month 9:45 am September through May at Deltona Regional Library.  

The Deltona Art Club workshop time at the Center at Deltona located at 1640 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. off Howland Blvd. in Deltona.
